Clothing

If you have decided to study in Lithuania and are preparing to pack for your trip here, do not forget that you are coming to a country where the weather is very different during all four seasons. In summers, the weather is quite warm. Autumns are usually rainy. It is snowy or rainy in winters, and in spring the weather is getting warmer but still rainy.

In winter you will need a warm coat, a pair of gloves and a wooly hat. Lithuanians wear many layers of clothes in winter: furs, scarfs, gloves, caps, socks… Most of these warm clothes are removed while in heated interiors (at some institutions this is even mandatory). In summer people wear t-shirts, long trousers, jackets, sweatshirts, raincoats, and always carry an umbrella.

Lithuanians pay attention to the quality of clothes and shoes. In formal meetings men usually wear a suit, women wear a formal dress or a suit. That could change depending on what kind of business you are in, but it is very important to dress clean and tidy.
